Costa Rica:

Location: Central America, between Nicaragua and Panama, our territorial extension is 51,000 square kilometers.

Borders: both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Coast (Atlantic Ocean)
Population: approximately 4.000.000

Weather: tropical and mostly sunny, even though costarricans like to joke stating that we have only two seasons: rainy season and rainier season. Jokes aside it is true we have only two seasons, a rainy season that starts around May and ends around early November, and a dry season that starts late November and ends late April, having said that, the average temperature on the central valley is about 70° all year round and at either coasts it is about 80° (on the dry season it can go up to 90°).

Capital: San José

Government: considered one of oldest and most stable democracies in Latin America.

One of the most important factors about Costa Rica, is that the army was abolish around 1948 and yet we keep one of the lowest crime rates in the world since.

Language: native-Spanish, though English is widely spoken all around the country.

Currency: Colón (plural: colones). $1.00 U.S. dollar is currently ¢518.00 colones.

We need to note that US dollars are accepted on most places in Costa Rica and in fact, a large quantity of establishments will actually charge in such currency.
